Short Biography:
I’m Jay Bogicevic, born and raised in Zurich with Serbian roots. For me, writing is more than storytelling — it’s a way to explore how far technology and medicine can shape who we are.
My background in psychology, film, photography, and music helps me create stories that feel cinematic and deeply human.

How It All Started
My family life brought its own lessons. For many years, I cared for my mother, and through that I learned resilience, empathy, and the reality of how fragile people can be. It showed me responsibility at a young age, and it taught me to see beneath the surface of people — to look past appearances, to the struggles they carry inside. That perspective has followed me into everything I create.
Art became my refuge, my way of surviving. Music was my first language of expression: rhythm, melody, and lyrics let me process feelings I couldn’t say out loud. Soon I began writing poetry, capturing emotions in fragments and lines. From there came photography, then film — worlds where I could tell stories with images, sounds, and mood. Creating was never just a hobby; it was the place where I felt most alive, most myself.
In 2017,
I began something I had long dreamed of: writing my first novel. That work grew into The Souls of Light: The Devil Can Love. Over three years, I poured my energy into it, blending my love of music, film, and psychology into a story that would feel both futuristic and deeply human.

What drives my writing is not technology for technology’s sake. I’m interested in people: how love, ambition, and jealousy play out when the systems around us have the power to reshape us.
My characters — Trey, Kiana, and Jamie — each reflect questions I’ve carried. What does it mean to live authentically? What happens when your memories, your body, even your emotions can be controlled? What remains that is truly yours?

My background in film and photography means I see stories cinematically. I write as if I’m framing scenes with a camera: close-ups, atmosphere, rhythm. My background in music shapes the way I pace chapters — like verses and choruses building to a climax. That’s why, with my second book The Souls of Light: Devil and Jealousy (releasing October 2025), I’ve gone further and created cinematic trailers and short films. These bring the characters to life visually, letting readers experience the story in a new dimension.

Being an author, for me, is about opening questions rather than closing them. What will technology do to love, to memory, to human dignity? How fragile is our identity when society demands perfection? Where is the line between who we are and who we are told to be? My books are my way of exploring these questions — not with academic answers, but with characters who live them.
I still live in Zurich, continuing to write, create, and dream of the worlds yet to come. My books are available in English and German, delivered worldwide, because I want these stories to reach as many people as possible. And this is just the beginning.
